TechFlash: Where have all the Jobsters gone?

  • Kate L · 1 year ago
I know of at least three more, although I don't know if they're still working full-time on them:

Educate Success (http://www.educatesuccess.com) -- Elinor Alexander

Exec Assistants (http://www.execassistants.com) -- Jill Tolman

SimpleSpark (http://www.simplespark.com) -- Christian Gloddy (contracted at Jobster)

There are a few others who maybe qualify as "playing a key role" in a startup, and one I know in stealth mode. I'll let them speak up if they want.

Mergelab & Identity.Net both had Joster-er's involved in the founding/early on... Although I think Alan Steele left Identity already.

Thanks for giving props to the Jobster Alumni, John! As for the drink of choice at Elliott (and before that, 1st), admittedly there was some percentage of kool-aid.

That said, every smart, socially networked person who got hired at Jobster immediately tried to recruit every other smart, socially networked person they knew, and it just snowballed. There was this brilliant combination of intelligence, creativity and freedom that made us all feel kind of high, and anything seemed possible.

Anyway. It's awesome how so many of us have gone on to bigger and better things, and have stayed connected over the last couple of years. Kudos to all!

John we think of you as a Jobster too - you've been with us every step of the way. ;-)

    Great stuff!

Say what you will about Jobster, but senior management there did an outstanding job of hiring a pretty amazing crowd of people with a pretty intense entrepreneurial spirit.

I am so not surprised at the length of this (growing) list. The massive amount of creative and smart ideas generated by everyone I used to work with was a constant source of inspiration. I can't wait to see what else what will come from ex-Jobsters over the next few years.

You can add me to that list. I was an MBA intern for Jason when it was just Jason, Neil, Marty, Jonathan and Phil in the Ignition Partners offices in Bellevue.

In addition to Dave and Justin, Reilly Devine, has played a huge role in the success of Bacon Salt.

The tag line that went with that old logo (that's Charles pictured, BTW) says it all: "great people know great people". Jobster's biggest recruiting successes will likely prove to be its own employees. I don't know that I've ever worked with smarter or more passionate folks.

The list was only those who had founded another venture.

The list of those that have gone on to play significant roles in new ventures would easily make this list 2-3x.

The pure concentration of talent inside the walls of Jobster was staggering to me even at the time.

jobster was a joke - and anyone who bought into their vapor of a company was an idiot

It is amazing that Jobster has so many incredibly talented people and still never did anything worth a damn due to everyones incredibly large ego.

Kara Gibson and Reilly Devine both came from Jobster to help launch Bacon Salt with Dave and I.
